Principles behind the Making of Yung Hologram

Yung Hologram is made by replacing the toner or ink particles in conventional printers with diffraction gratings. Each diffraction grating element has a diameter of about 0.005 mm or more and is in the amount of multi million pieces. These elements are of different dimensions, different colors and different diffracting angles. The gratings in the manner of surface relief are being put into proper positions at the print substrate with surgical precision in accordance with the printing action and instruction of the printers. For more clues about the image forming mechanism of Yung Hologram, please refer to the passage extracted from Holographic News under the title of ˇ°Newsˇ± in this web site.

Advantages of Yung Hologram
Yung Hologram uses no laser, no optical lens / mirror, no isolation table or darkroom in its image forming processes. In so doing it liberates the enormous hidden potential of embossed holography in the role as being a display medium. The so many huddles that have been limiting the development of embossed hologram into large format, such as the problem of vibration, the power of laser and long exposure time, etc; are all removed. The size of hologram is now only being limited by the size of the foil that the embossing machine can handle. The printing speed is extremely fast, at a rate of at least 60,000 dots per second.

Technical Aspect of Yung Hologram
(1)Yung Hologram is a rainbow type hologram in surface relief manner. Therefore it can be used as print master for mass duplicating into many of copies via embossed holographic technique.
(2)Yung Hologram is in dot-matrix format with its dot size varies in 256 different diameters, thus allowing color image with gray scale to be made. This is entirely different from the conventional dot-matrix systems where the dot size is a fixed value.
(3)The resolution in Yung Hologram is around 2000 dpi.
(4)The duration in making a Yung Hologram is in the order of few minutes.
(5)The maximum size of Yung Hologram that can be made is around 1600 mm x 600 mm, which is only limited by the dimension of the embossing machines.

Alternative Application of Yung Hologram: Additive Color Printing
Apart from being able to produce 3D and kinetic effects, Yung Hologram is by nature an additive color image, in contrast with the subtractive one in conventional color printing. Additive color image is made up of three primary colors of red green and blue, instead of cyan, magenta and yellow as in subtractive printing. Intrinsically additive color image is much superior to the subtractive one, as the former can produce 16.7 million different colors while the latter can produce only 5,000 to 6,000 colors.
