Supreme Image Inc. was incorporated in Canada some 10 years ago, with a purpose to explore new technology in holography. Later on the company moved to China and continued the R&D work. We are so dedicated to the research that at one point the company virtually stopped doing business but concentrated on the development work. We conducted the research single handed, without getting support from any institutions or government.

About three years ago we were struck by a disaster, as the only HeCd laser in the company broke down and beyond repair. For a few weeks we lost our destination and did not know what to do next. Then there came the revelation, we asked: why don¡¯t we simply abandon the use of laser in making hologram?

Shortly after this question was asked, we verified that surely there was not a rule governing that laser must be used to produce hologram. The basic element in a hologram is diffraction grating; if we can gather together a vast variety of tiny grating elements with different colors, different dimensions, and different diffractive angles and put them at proper positions on the substrate, we can make hologram!

We first started converting a wire printer to make hologram, with great success. Then we converted the inkjet printer, the laser printer and finally we found virtually all sort of printers can be used to make hologram. We put the new concept to a test by exhibiting the result at the IHMA conference in 2005, and were commanded the title of ¡°New Holographic Technique¡± in the Excellency of Holography Award.

Since then a profound advancement has been achieved. Now our patent applications cover the entire spectrum of conventional B/W printers for making hologram. Yung Hologram is not only a hologram, but mastering technology that allows duplication in large volume to be made using embossing method.

With our new mastering technology, embossed hologram will no longer be hidden as a small security label at the corner over the product, nor will it be being as meaningless repeat patterns on the packaging foil. Embossed hologram has finally got back its dignity, as being a stand-alone 3D display medium in large format at everywhere in the world of image display.
