WHAT IS YUNG HOLOGRAM?
Yung Hologram refers to an innovated technology invented by Dr. Simon Yung that allows the making of hologram by using no laser but virtually all sorts of conventional B/W printing mechanisms, such as offset printing, wire-printing, inkjet printing, laser printing and Xerox-printing. Basically Yung Hologram is a dot-matrix type surface relief hologram, with a special character that it offers 16.7 million levels of gray scale to the color image at a resolution up to 2000 dpi. This aspect allows the holographic image to acquire the same quality as those in photography.
HOW IS YUNG HOLOGRAM BEING MADE?
Yung Hologram utilizes the printing actions in conventional black & white printers to implant a vast variety of tiny diffraction grating elements onto plastic substrates, thus constructing the holographic image. This implantation mechanism is conducted either directly or indirectly. The image in Yung Hologram is a stereogram that is synthesized from multiple perspective views of the 3D object via computer graphic software.
WHY IS YUNG HOLOGRAM UNIQUE IN THE HOLOGRAPHIC WORLD?
Yung Hologram entirely abandons the old concept in making hologram. There is no need to use laser, optics, isolation table, dark room or holographer. Instead we use ordinary desktop printers to make hologram. The holographic process becomes as simple as in an ordinary printing procedure, but yet the image thus made is much more superior to that made using conventional holographic method.
IN WHAT WAY THE WORLD OF PRINTING CAN BE BENIFITED FROM YUNG HOLOGRAM?
For more than 20 years, the application of embossed Holography has been confined to the field of security labels and packaging foil. This is simply because the conventional holographic mastering is such a complicated process that the size of hologram is mostly limited to a dimension no more than a few square centimeters.
With Yung Holographic technology, making large format hologram is as simple as doing black and white printing, giving the field of application for embossed hologram a rocket boost. Now Yung hologram is providing an image size up to 30 cm x 30 cm, that is several hundred times larger than that used in security labels! In addition, the image in Yung Hologram is no longer a pattern, as normally being found in security labels and packaging foils, but a photographic grade 3D image having 16.7 million different colors.
With this shear dimension, low production cost and high quality image in Yung Hologram, its being popularly used as display medium will obviously be inevitable. By embossing the hologram into paper format, all our daily printing matter, such as books, magazine, news paper, catalogs, posters etc. can offer 3D and kinetic image too. |
